Jaffa's is our very busy independent cat-only practice in Salisbury, striving to give the best possible service to our feline patients, their carers and our team members. We are a 3 vet business occupying lovely light and airey premises on the outskirts of the city.
We have a 30 minute minimum consult time and a calm cat-friendly approach. Our pro-active approach to education makes every clinical case a potential learning experience for both nurse and vet. The team communicate regularly with fellow professionals, researching cases and sharing ideas and solutions for challenging problems. We never say no
Our non-corporate approach is flexible with every cat and every owner treated as individuals, such that what may be appropriate for one cat and one owner may not be appropriate for another. Whilst we are essentially a first opinion practice we perform as much as we can in house and rarely refer cases other than for advanced imaging. We have visiting specialists for ophthalmology and complex orthopaedics.
We like you to nurse, utilising your skills rather than selling wormers and petfood The varied roles include assisting vets in consult, taking BP's etc, along with theatre and prep. Household tasks are shared. You will learn all aspects of feline nursing from our very-experienced team giving a fulfilling way of working. Dont worry about feline-only - we have all travelled the same journey from mixed small-animal practice.
Vets Now cover our out-of-hours, but in-patients stay at Jaffa's, with evening and weekend nursing cover on a shared basis. This is rarely onerous.
Our working week is the usual 'when Vets Now are closed' so pm, with a 12.30 finish on Saturday. Holidays 4 weeks plus bank hols. Relocation package available. We believe most vet-nurses are underpaid and ensure we pay a geneous salary with discretionary bonuses.
We would prefer a full-time employee but can accommodate a 4 day week with pay and benefits pro-rata.
Qualifications : RVN. We need a team-worker who enjoys client interactions, and who gets pleasure out of making both cats and their owners relaxed and happy. We prefer a nurse with experience as an RVN but if you have lots of experience in the job but are only recently qualified please feel free to contact us. We are happy to fund ISFM feline qualifications as part of your CPD allowance.
