Quality Inspector – Panama Shifts

We’re working with a well-established, high-performing FMCG manufacturing business in Port Talbot who are looking to strengthen their engineering team with the addition of a Quality Inspector.
This is a hands-on Quality Inspector role where you will be responsible for monitoring production quality, carrying out inspections and supporting continuous improvement across the site. You will work closely with production teams to identify issues, reduce waste and ensure products meet required specifications.
Shift Pattern
This role operates on a Panama (Continental) shift pattern, rotating between days and nights:
2 on, 2 off
3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off
Alternating weekly between days and nights
This offers a strong work-life balance with regular extended time off.
Benefits:
Salary £43,000 including shift allowance
24 days holidays plus 8 bank holidays. You will need to keep 3 days of holiday aside for a 2 week Christmas shutdown

Role Responsibilities:
Carry out in-process and final inspections across production lines to ensure products meet required specifications
Perform dimensional and visual inspections using lineside gauging equipment, accurately recording results
Monitor production quality and identify non-conforming products, ensuring defects are contained and managed effectively
Quarantine defective materials and support root cause investigations and corrective actions
Work closely with production teams and shift leaders to resolve quality issues in real time
Ensure all gauging equipment is calibrated and fit for use at the start of each production run
Support new product introduction, ensuring products meet required specifications and quality standards
Monitor production following stoppages or maintenance work to ensure quality standards are maintained
Maintain accurate quality documentation and records, ensuring compliance with procedures and audits
Assist with internal audits and quality accreditations, supporting compliance with ISO 9001 and BRC standards
Support rework of non-conforming materials where required
Monitor and report on waste and quality trends, supporting continuous improvement initiatives
Set and monitor vision systems (camera systems) to detect defects and optimise production output
Support and train production staff on quality standards and best practices
Essential Skills & Experience:
Previous experience within a quality inspection role in a manufacturing environment (FMCG highly desirable)
Strong understanding of quality control processes and inspection techniques
Experience working with ISO 9001 standards
Ability to carry out root cause analysis and support corrective actions
Experience with gauging equipment and inspection tools
Strong attention to detail and ability to make decisions based on data
Good communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
IT literate (Microsoft Office)
