Job Overview
The role is a senior operational manager within the Division of Neurosciences at North Bristol NHS Trust. The successful candidate will lead operational and strategic management of the neurology, rheumatology, neurophysiology, neuropsychology and neuropsychiatry (Cluster 3) departments, ensuring delivery of key objectives, financial targets and quality standards.
Responsibilities
* Lead specialty development and implementation of the annual Operational Plan, incorporating activity, access, financial investment and efficiency savings, workforce and quality targets.
* Identify and deliver annual cash‑releasing efficiency savings agreed with the Director of Finance, contributing to the Division’s annual savings target.
* Participate in the manager of the day‑bed rota and on‑call rota within the Division.
* Participate in planning and management of capital projects as required.
* Work closely with Specialty Leads, Matron and Divisional Triumvirate to ensure high levels of performance and delivery of key objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
* At least 3 years’ experience of operational management in an NHS setting or large public sector organisation, including accountability for a significant budget.
* Experience in developing or implementing strategic, annual, business, financial and capital plans.
* Experience of managing or implementing programmes of continuous improvement and change management in complex environments.
* Strong interpersonal, written, oral and presentation skills; ability to work effectively with key stakeholders.
* Post‑graduate management qualification (MBA, MSc, DMS) or equivalent evidence of professional development.
Desirable Criteria
* Knowledge of NHS policy, local health community issues and national performance management frameworks.
* Understanding of modernisation agenda, service redesign, demand/capacity analysis and process mapping.
* Experience of operational management in NHS emergency and elective services.
