With 19 campuses and centres across the North and West Highlands, Skye, and Outer Hebrides, we cover a geographic area larger than Wales, comprising 40% of Scotland’s coastline. Our campuses and centres are located within historic towns and villages, set amongst the shorelines, mountains, and moors, with local staff working across our region to support our students and communities.
Position: We are seeking a Student Engagement & Wellbeing Officer to be based at our Thurso campus.
Responsibilities: To deliver cross-college guidance services to support students across the college, offering advice, support, and guidance on a wide range of issues. They will be responsible for developing and embedding a cross-college approach to student engagement, including liaison with HISA to support class representation and student voice.
The Student Engagement and Wellbeing Officer will be responsible for organising, delivering, and coordinating services and activities to promote, maintain, and improve mental health and wellbeing. This may include providing wellbeing support and personal development guidance to students via drop-in or online sessions, facilitated peer support opportunities, workshop delivery, and social activities. They will also signpost to specialist advice where appropriate.
The post holder will work with colleagues across the college, including curriculum, student records, performance, and planning departments.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills: The suitable candidates will have an SCQF Level 7 qualification (or equivalent) in an appropriate area, demonstrable knowledge, and successful experience of delivering high-quality student services, along with previous experience supporting and advocating on behalf of others. Effective coordination and resource allocation skills are also required.
A level of Gaelic ability would be advantageous to your application.
