Role Overview
URecruit is seeking a skilled and driven Design Manager with an MEP background to join our clients team at this high-profile Data Centre in East London. You will lead the design process for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, ensuring seamless integration, compliance, and delivery for this critical, network-dense facility.
What Youll Do
Lead the design of MEP systems (e.g., HVAC, power, cooling, plumbing) to meet the unique demands of the Data Centre and project specifications.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to align design solutions with construction goals and timelines.
Oversee the development of detailed design plans, ensuring compliance with building regulations, safety standards, and client requirements.
Manage risk assessments, identify potential design challenges, and implement solutions to keep the project on track.
Collaborate with main contractors or subcontractors to integrate MEP designs effectively into the broader construction process.
Drive innovation, incorporating energy-efficient and resilient technologies to support high-density IT environments.
Guide and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing design team.
What Were Looking For
Degree (Bachelors or Masters) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related MEP discipline.
Minimum of 7 years experience in MEP design management, ideally on data centre, commercial, or complex industrial projects.
Proven track record working for a main contractor or subcontractor, with strong knowledge of MEP systems and construction integration.
Familiarity with data centre projects, particularly in East London or similar connectivity-rich environments, is a plus.
Deep understanding of building codes, safety standards, and energy-efficient design principles.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to manage complex, fast-paced projects with a focus on quality and delivery.
