Experimental Test Engineer (Electronics / Instrumentation)
Bedford | £35,000–£40,000 | Shift-based role
This is a hands-on engineering role supporting advanced aerodynamic testing and experimental research.
You'll work in a specialist environment where bespoke instrumentation, precise data capture and reliability matter. The work is practical, varied and rarely repeated - supporting complex test programmes rather than production lines.
What you'll be doing
* Building and maintaining bespoke instrumentation and cabling
* Installing sensors and instrumentation into experimental test hardware
* Connecting systems into multi-channel data acquisition setups
* Fault-finding and repairing assemblies and sensors down to component level
* Supporting live test activity and minimising downtime
* Working across lab and industrial environments, including confined spaces and work at height

* Time-served electronics technician or equivalent hands-on experience
* Solid understanding of basic electronics and diagnostics
* Experience with sensors, instrumentation or test systems (strain, temperature, pressure, etc.)
* Comfortable reading schematics and wiring lists
* Flexible approach to shift work
* Eligible for UK Security Clearance

* £35,000–£40,000 salary
* Shift pattern (early/late rotation)
