Overview
Roots To Excellence Teacher (Maths or English specialism). Rooted in Culture. Driven by Learning. Built for Leadership. Roots To Excellence is a new, Black Caribbean-focused Saturday programme for children and young people aged 8 to 16 with a mission: to empower children and young people of Caribbean heritage to excel academically, embrace their identity, build strong character, and achieve their highest aspirations. Through a combination of academic tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment, R2E will work with children, parents, and schools to foster confidence and a positive mindset, raise academic achievement, cultivate leadership skills, strengthen cultural identity and resilience, build community and self-reliance, and create opportunities at key educational transition points.
We will also work closely with parents and schools to remove barriers, support learning at home, and celebrate diversity - ensuring consistent, holistic support for each young person. We are looking for Primary and Secondary Teachers who will be part of our R2E Saturday team to deliver the Maths and English academic aspect of the programme. The role involves designing engaging and effective lessons for classes, groups and some 1-1 tutoring, assessing student progress, and supporting the development of the LAET Sixth Form Tutors. The teachers will also play an integral role in delivering aspects of the leadership, cultural, and personal development curriculum, helping to inspire and empower students both academically and personally.

* Design and implement engaging, challenging lessons set in the Caribbean cultural context that support both academic success and personal growth.
* Work with students to help build their confidence, self-esteem, and resilience.
* Provide emotional and wellbeing support, acting as a trusted adult that students can turn to.
* Identify safeguarding concerns and escalate appropriately, following Roots to Excellence's safeguarding procedures.
