Job Purpose
As the Health & Safety Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of Health and Safety are maintained for our employees, contractors and visitors across the organisation. You will also be responsible for developing & implementing policies and procedures, conducting safety audits, and providing training as required to all staff so as to ensure the business remains fully compliant against all regulations, whilst mitigating any potential accidents or breaches occurring.
The role will demand a degree of flexibility by the post holder in order to deal with various tasks simultaneously, accurately and within reasonable timescales in order to meet business needs. Training will be provided where necessary.

The Health & Safety Manager will be required to be proactive and lead from the front in the development, promotion and implementation of the Health and Safety Management framework across the organisation. You will be responsible for developing, promoting and advising on Health and Safety policies, risk assessments, incident reporting and investigations, and the analysis of Health and Safety trends across the organisation. You will be able to communicate, influence and engage with all levels of Management and stakeholders.

This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged and the range of duties and responsibilities to be undertaken. It does not attempt to detail every activity. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals. The post holder will be required at all times to perform any other reasonable task, as requested by the Line Manager in order to meet the operational needs of the business.
Main Duties and Responsibilities (This list is not exhaustive and other areas of responsibility may be included)
Working as part of the Management Team to ensure safe working practices are followed and to advise & coach Management on all H&S processes

Supervise and oversee the Blantyre Depot in the Operations Managers absence, including opening & closing the Depot

Responsible for keeping up to date, communicating and implementing any changes to H&S legislation, including to ensure all procedures, rules and regulations are regularly reviewed

Continue communication with HRHS consultancy in order to bounce ideas off, get opinions or guidance on specific situations, and to review new H&S documentation put together.

TMS depots or remote storage locations as and when required

Conduct internal audits for compliance, including at client sites on FSE

Being proactive to identify H&S risks, any potential hazards, and recommending actions to minimise & reduce risk to the business

Develop, assist, and participate in H&S training, and toolbox talks with employees across the business

UK presence in carrying out accident investigations, including collection of evidence, interviewing of staff, witness statements & implementing corrective/preventive actions.

Be a point of contact including out of normal business hours.

Maintain ISO 45001 and ensure ongoing site compliance

Carry out H&S Inductions across the organisation & ensure all PPE is issued

Liaising with the relevant external authorities (HSE) as and when required

Undertaking risk assessments, SSOW, method statements, and site inspections.

Ensuring planned emergency fire evacuations & drills are carried out and reported, and recommendations for improvement are implemented.

Supplying RAMS to clients for TMS works.

Ensuring that equipment is installed correctly/safely.

To develop & implement all necessary H&S policies and procedures, including drafting the monthly H&S newsletter.

Be proactive in delivering H&S presentations to employees/managers.

Hold and Chair Health and Safety meetings and training courses for employees - forward updates to the Chairman and Operations Director where necessary

Conducting additional ad hoc duties as may be required in meeting business needs, relative to the purpose of the role and needs of the customer

Vehicle checks

Key holder register for all 5 sites (Block 2; Block 9; East Avenue; Knightswood Terrace; Accrington) and CCTV, fire systems, and the intruder alarm system.

Responsible for liaising and communicating with tenants on site, including meeting with external Companies to obtain quotes, arrange repairs for anything tenants or TMS related

Essential Requirements
NEBOSH General Certificate and IOSH member

Ability to work collaboratively to support internal staff and external stakeholders and ensure outcomes are delivered.

Good up to date knowledge of Health & Safety and fire legislation, combined with best practice.

Computer literate with the ability to learn new systems, and be proficient in various IT packages.

Full UK Driving Licence.

Experience in working in a high volume, fast paced environment

Organised and ability to plan and prioritise your own workload

Must be self motivated with a can-do attitude

Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

Ability to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.

Ability to inspire, motivate and influence others

Hours of Work
You will be required to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, including a 1 hour unpaid lunch break
Pay & Benefits
Salary of £40,000 per annum with an immediate start available

30 hours appointment leave after 6 months service

29 days annual leave entitlement per holiday year, inclusive of bank holidays, with length of service holiday accrual.
