The role
As an Electrical Engineering Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be working with the Support business in the delivery of complex deep maintenance periods for the Royal Navy’s Type 23 Frigates Weapons Engineering Department.
Day-to-day, you’ll be assisting to maintain electrical and electronic systems and equipment onboard vessels in deep maintenance periods and contributing to the regeneration of systems and equipment to full operational condition ready for tests and trials by:
Conducting maintenance of dedicated electrical, weapons, communications and electronic systems and equipmentReporting on system equipment and condition to ensure stakeholder awareness for future operation Rectifying defects of equipment This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Electrical Engineering Technician:
Qualified electrical or electronic engineer with good engineering standards Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job, you will be required to work onboard ships to carry out upkeeping duties on a regular basis. IT skills and ability to generate defect reports and populate information into a maintenance management systemAdaptable and demonstrate flexibility to work across a variety of different tasks which could include general marine maintenance tasks A proactive attitude Good communication skills Qualifications for the Electrical Engineering Technician:
Level 3 NVQ or BTEC, or equivalent qualification in an electrical/electronic engineering specialisationSecurity Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
