This is a permanent Lecturer post within the Psychology & Sociology Subject Area, offered on a 0.8 FTE basis. The role involves teaching, assessment, and related activities primarily on MSc programmes in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, as well as undergraduate teaching in related topics. The successful applicant will engage in interdisciplinary scholarly activities to enhance the impact and profile of the Faculty's outputs. We support flexible working arrangements to promote work-life balance and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Creating an inclusive environment by adopting a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination and ensuring all activities are inclusive.
2. Supporting students and staff by strengthening mental health support, enhancing disability confidence, and providing academic and professional support.
3. Tackling inequalities by involving students in recruitment, analyzing equality data, and supporting networks for protected characteristics.

Qualifications and Experience:

* Educational background in Counselling, Psychology, or a related discipline.
* Postgraduate qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy; registration or accreditation with a recognized professional body (e.g., BACP).
* Expert knowledge of children and young people is highly desirable.
* Previous teaching experience in Further/Higher Education is advantageous.
* Strong communication, time management, organizational skills, and IT proficiency, including remote teaching platforms.
* Dedicated to providing a personalized and supportive student learning experience.

Qualifications:

* Degree in relevant subject or equivalent.
* Master's degree or postgraduate qualification in counselling/psychotherapy related to children, adolescents, and young people.
* Professional recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or a recognized teaching qualification, or willingness to obtain one.
* Desirable: Doctorate in a relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion.

The Faculty of Health, Sport and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Northampton is a supportive department with a focus on student-centered teaching and high-impact research.
