Due to internal promotion a vacancy has arisen for an experienced mental health practitioner (RMN, social worker, occupational therapist) to workwithin the local primary mental health support service to undertake assessments and provide short term therapeutic interventions.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for delivering the five functions of Part One of the Mental Health Wales (2010) Measure providing consultation (adviceand information) to Primary Care professionals, service users and carers delivering high quality, brief evidence based psychological interventionsfor individuals with mild to moderate mental health difficulties and supporting onward referral. The ability to work from various locations across Montgomeryshire as well as using digital technology in response to service demand is required for this post. Applicants with skills and experience in counselling and/or of working in a trauma informed way would be welcomed.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential
* Qualified Health or Social Care Professional (RMN, Dip SW, OT etc) & live registration of a professional body Additional Training in: o Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and/or Family Therapy and/or o Psychotherapy and/or o Psychosocial Interventions and/or o Counselling and/or o Dementia and/or o Group Therapies and/or o Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and/or o Teaching/Training
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
* Knowledge of Safeguarding legislation and procedures for children, young people and vulnerable adults
* An awareness of serious mental health presentations (psychosis, bi-polar)
* Understanding of and a commitment to values underpinning the provision of mental health and wellbeing services in primary care
* Evidence of further training in psychological interventions / therapy
* Knowledge and understanding of the stigma and discrimination that can sometimes be experienced by individuals suffering mental health problems, older adults and people with learning disabilities, and shows a commitment to challenging all discriminatory beliefs and behavior
* Awareness of the legislation underpinning service delivery, e.g. Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010
* Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how that relates to this post.
