The Commercial Product & Platform vision develops global technology products and platforms that delight our customers and enable our crews to operate our restaurants efficiently and effectively.

The Manager Tech Lead for Restaurant Technology will be responsible for the technical direction, strategy, overall deployment and adoption of Instore cashless and fiscal capabilities within our restaurants.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

1. Collaborate across functions (e.g. Market, Segment) to ensure the timely delivery of solutions as per the business need
2. Establish a technical vision and strategy for restaurant products, specifically focusing on McDonald’s Point of Sale’s and Kiosk adoptions across international markets
3. Drive a technical direction for the product and lead the adoption engineers
4. Assist with critical transformation effort to modernize McDonald’s POS, Kiosk and reduce complexity and time to deploy
5. Partner with our restaurant platform, product, and engineering teams to review architecture, solution designs and drive alignment on a Platform and Application North Star
6. Attend all adoption engineering level ceremonies and act as the leader of the Software Development Engineers (SDE’s) of the respective squad
7. Lead the output (quality and efficiency) of external and internal vendor engineers to ensure they are delivering to the standards required by McD
8. Ensure the code development is in line with the architectural, quality and security standards and practices
9. Maintain documentation standards for all software shipped by the engineers
10. Answer technical and operational questions from the engineers and stay accountable for technical solutioning
11. Accountable for deployment of new features including QA, push to production and defect remediation
12. Coordinate and/or implement plans to ensure that technical solutions meet the needs of the business
13. Build and implement optimization experiments to validate and optimize features adoption
14. Provide leadership to team members and peers by collaborating; articulating ideas and viewpoints to senior management, peers, and others; identifying and initiating projects; leading resources; driving the resolution of issues; and holding self and team accountable for results
15. Serve as a technical subject matter professional for junior configurators, providing on the job mentoring/training, assisting with configuration design, and reviewing work products

Experience required:

16. Significant software development experience, with knowledge of Agile software development processes
17. Experience teaming up with team members across an at-scale, complex, global matrixed org setup
18. Excellent understanding of latest development technologies
19. Experiences with code refactoring, design patterns, iterative development, continuous deployment, highly scalable applications, and application security
20. Skilled in pair programming, continuous integration, development without testing, and gradual design
21. Experience in Agile Development, application of Agile techniques and delivery practices
22. Encourages Agile methodologies adoption to ensure dedicated attitude in product teams
23. Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex technical decisions to non-technical collaborators
24. A bias toward action and incremental improvements
25. Strong quantitative analysis skills, analytics approach and skills in research and analysis
26. A passion for driving an improved customer experience as well as a passion for improving operations
27. A love of new technologies and the drive to find ways to implement better tools and processes
28. Retail and Digital technology experience - especially point of sale systems
29. Experience translating customer needs into product features
30. Strong ability to effectively communicate to, as well as collaborate with, engineers, project managers, corporate leadership, and partners
31. Experience leading multi-functional teams across multiple time zones and managing indirect reports to achieve organizational goals
32. Experience and expertise in project and product planning, including product definition, feature prioritization, trade-off processes, and roadmap creation
33. Curious, task-oriented, and a self-starter with a strong bias for action; Proven track record of "getting things done"
34. Customer-centric approach with a passion for understanding consumer behaviour, trends, and opportunities for innovation
Qualifications:
35. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
36. .NET experience preferred
37. Expertise on McDonalds POS and Kiosk system
38. Agile Product Management experience, preferably on customer-facing products leading agile development teams
