We’re growing our team and are recruiting a Data Engineer. You will be working in our Data Engineering department to support all parts of the business - understanding their problems and building solutions that make a real difference. This is not a stereotypical data role. We're looking for someone who wants to continuously improve their own skills, truly understand the business, and lead the way with process improvements. We don't have data for the sake of it - we use it to make calculated decisions on the path forward. What you’ll be doing at Kukoon Python & Scripting – Building and automating solutions that make the business run smarter. Write, maintain, and improve Python scripts that automate processes across the business, from supplier workflows to internal operations. Use AI tools (such as Claude) to help write, debug, and improve scripts faster - prompt engineering is treated as a genuine skill here, and you'll be expected to take it seriously. Proactively identify opportunities to simplify and improve existing processes as the business evolves. SQL & Data Architecture – Laying the foundations for scalable, reliable data. Support the design and build of a new data warehouse using SQL and BigQuery, helping to shape the architecture as the business scales. Maintain and improve existing data pipelines, ensuring data flows accurately and efficiently across the business. Champion best practices in data architecture, contributing ideas on how to structure and future-proof our data infrastructure. Reporting & Business Intelligence – Turning data into decisions. Build and maintain Power BI reports that are genuinely useful - dashboards people actually open and act on. Keep on top of the existing reporting stack, identifying and resolving issues before they impact the business. Work closely with stakeholders across the business to understand their reporting needs and translate them into clear, accurate outputs. What we’re looking for Good working knowledge of SQL and an understanding of data architecture fundamentals. Hands-on experience writing scripts and a genuine interest in prompt engineering and AI-assisted development. Strong experience with formula writing in Excel, Google Sheets, or Power BI. A solid numerical aptitude - you don't need to be a mathematician, but you should be comfortable with the logic behind complex calculations. A strategic mindset and strong communication skills. Decisive and results-focused - you're comfortable making calls in uncertainty, taking calculated risks, and seeing projects through to measurable impact.
