Overview
Axcis Education is supporting a local hospital in Birmingham that is looking for a qualified teacher to ensure that children and young people who are going through very difficult health circumstances still have access to an education. The hospital’s priority is the individual’s health, but education should continue where possible. Teachers will go onto the ward to deliver tailored sessions. This role can be emotionally demanding but is also one of the most rewarding positions to take on.
Responsibilities
* Deliver tailored education sessions on the hospital ward to children and young people with serious health concerns.
* Collaborate with hospital staff to support education alongside patient care.
* Adapt teaching to individual health circumstances and educational needs.
* Monitor progress and provide feedback to families and schools where appropriate.
Requirements
* Degree in early years / primary / secondary education or PGCE – Essential
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Essential
* Working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS Curriculum) or National Curriculum / Specialist Subject – Essential
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new one before starting – Essential
* Minimum of 2 good references – Essential
