Role Purpose
We are looking for an enthusiastic Production Engineer with an electronics/test bias to join our team. In this position, they will support operations, designing and producing test equipment for in-process sub-assembly testing and LRU/RMA Testing, and writing the test plans to carry out this testing. They will also provide technical support to the Operations department to improve processes and resolve technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
* Interface between Engineering and Production teams from a test perspective, helping determine in-process testing required during production to improve build quality and reduce rework time.
* Provide electrical and test support to effectively address engineering production problems, minimizing delays.
* Design and develop test equipment, assist in procurement of equipment, jigs, and fixtures.
* Develop test plans/procedures and coordinate production engineering processes to ensure high-quality products that meet customer requirements.
* Support Engineering with implementation of CRs.
* Identify, develop, and implement process improvements to enhance capacity, quality, and reliability, supporting continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
* Assist the quality department with inspection and investigation activities.
* Aid in budget preparation and expense monitoring.
* Perform engineering analysis to reduce downtime of test and production assembly equipment.
* Fault-find electromechanical equipment, analyze root causes, and derive resolutions.
* Stay current with product specifications, engineering technology, and production processes.
* Travel as required to assist customers with technical and production issues, ensuring customer satisfaction.
* Assist in training production staff and knowledge transfer within the workplace.
* Adhere to company procedures, policies, and goals, maintaining the company's reputation.
* Follow health and safety regulations and guidelines at all times.
* Maintain clean and orderly office and workshop environments.
* Reflect on and improve personal performance.
Skills & Experience
Essential
* At least 5 years’ relevant experience in a test/engineering environment and/or qualification such as BTEC/City & Guilds Level 2.
* Excellent knowledge of testing electrical and electromechanical equipment.
* Ability to read complex technical drawings, including wiring and PCB schematics.
* Excellent computer skills.
* Good verbal and written communication skills suitable for diverse audiences.
Desirable
* Experience in staff supervision or mentoring.
* Knowledge of LabVIEW software.
* Knowledge of PLC programming.
* Experience using CAD software.
* Knowledge of digital camera and video protocols.
