Job Title: Electrical/Mechanical Engineer
Location: Carnwath, South Lanarkshire
Hours: 7.30am – 4.30pm Monday – Thursday, 7.30am – 2.00pm Friday
Contract Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities
* Fault find and repair breakdowns on machines and plant equipment (drills, blasters, saws, conveyors, welding units, overhead cranes, etc.).
* Carry out preventative maintenance (cleaning, lubricating, adjusting) to ensure optimal functionality and update maintenance files.
* Adhere to safety regulations, codes and standards to maintain a safe working environment.
* Conduct safety checks, risk assessments and implement safety measures to minimise hazards.
* Maintain records of maintenance activities (inspection reports, repair logs, equipment performance data).
* Stay updated with the latest regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance.
* Ensure safe systems of work are followed during all maintenance works, including COSHH assessments.
* Collaborate with the team to coordinate maintenance activities and resolve complex issues.
* Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to provide updates, discuss maintenance plans, and address concerns.
* Identify opportunities to improve performance, energy efficiency and cost effectiveness.
* Report any issues to the line manager.
* Promote safe working by following procedures and wearing correct PPE/RPE.
* Fabricate and fit parts required for repairs or maintenance to plant equipment.
* Make and assemble fabricated parts into a complete unit, ensuring proper alignment and functionality.
Requirements
* Completed a recognised trade apprenticeship or hold a relevant engineering qualification and experience.
* Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding turning, electrical, overhead cranes and IPAF is beneficial.
* Good communicator, able to work independently or as part of a team; conscientious, hardworking, flexible and safety aware.
* Excellent problem‑solving skills, good interpersonal skills and ability to work to tight deadlines.
