Shift Technician - Data Centre Location: London Shift Pattern: 4on 4off (06:30–18:30 / 18:30–06:30) – 42 hours per week We are seeking an experienced Data Centre Shift Technician to join a high-performing critical facilities team. This role is ideal for a skilled engineer with a strong background in electrical, mechanical, and data centre-specific systems who thrives in a fast-paced, high-availability environment. You will play a vital role in maintaining, operating, and improving mission-critical infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for ensuring uptime, operational safety, and service excellence for a prestigious client in a state-of-the-art facility. What You’ll Do * Operate and maintain all M&E systems within the data centre, including HV/LV electrical systems, cooling systems, and life-safety equipment. * Carry out HV electrical isolations/operations, ensuring all work adheres to risk and safety protocols. * Oversee and coordinate specialist subcontractors, ensuring compliance with SOPs, MOPs, PTWs, and client procedures. * Support the Shift Leader in delivering day-to-day operations, taking full leadership responsibility during cover periods. * Prepare, review, and participate in operational procedures and emergency scenario drills. * Ensure all work is recorded accurately, including spares usage, work orders, and maintenance reports. * Lead by example in promoting health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. Technical Scope * You’ll work across a broad range of systems, including: * Building Management and Lighting Control Systems * Air Conditioning (DFUs, FCUs, AHUs, ACUs) * Chillers, CHW, Boilers, Heating Systems * DRUPS and associated components * Electrical infrastructure – PDU, distribution boards, three-phase and single-phase systems * Fire detection and suppression systems * Pumps, VFDs, lifts, and other critical facility assets What You’ll Bring * 5 years’ experience in a data centre or other critical environment. * HV Authorised Person status. * HNC/HND in a relevant discipline or equivalent trade apprenticeship. * Strong leadership ability – calm, decisive, and effective under pressure. * Excellent communication and reporting skills, both verbal and written. * Proficiency in IT systems and CMMS. * Physically fit, presentable, and committed to high operational standards. * Willingness to undertake further training, including occasional nights away
