Job Title: Witham Hub Manager
Location: Witham, Essex
Hours: 20 hours per week (including an alternating Saturday); additional hours for weekend events as required

Job Summary:
The Witham Hub Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the operational, strategic, and community engagement efforts of the Witham hub. This dynamic position requires a motivated leader with a passion for community development, retail management, event planning, and marketing. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in retail environments, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to safeguarding and safety standards. The manager will be responsible for creating a welcoming and vibrant hub that serves as a cornerstone for community activity, support services, retail offerings, and local engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational & Retail Management:
Oversee all aspects of daily operations within the hub, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
Manage retail activities, including stock control, merchandising, sales, and customer service, to meet financial targets and enhance community access.
Develop and implement retail strategies to increase footfall, sales revenue, and customer satisfaction.
Monitor retail performance metrics and adjust strategies accordingly.
Ensure the retail environment is welcoming, accessible, and safe for all visitors.
Recruit, onboard, and supervise a diverse team of staff, volunteers, and freelance contractors.
Lead, motivate, and develop team members through regular supervision, coaching, and performance evaluations.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative working environment.
Organise staff schedules, training sessions, and team meetings aligned with organisational goals.
Events Planning, Marketing & Execution:
Lead the planning, promotion, and delivery of community events, workshops, and activities that meet the needs of diverse audiences.
Coordinate logistics, including venue setup, equipment, volunteers, vendors, and health and safety compliance.
Develop innovative event concepts to increase community engagement and participation.
Evaluate event success through feedback and key performance indicators, and implement improvements for future activities.
Be available to support and oversee weekend events, which may require working outside regular hours.
Marketing & Community Outreach:
Design and execute marketing campaigns to promote the hub’s services, retail offerings, and events.
Utilise digital marketing channels, including social media, email newsletters, and the organisations website.
Develop relationships with community organisation’s, and stakeholders to boost visibility.
Create promotional materials and ensure consistent branding across all communication platforms.
Stakeholder & Community Engagement:
Build and nurture strong relationships with local community groups, charities, council representatives, and business partners.
Act as a visible and approachable representative of the organisation within the community.
Gather community feedback and insights to inform service development and improve offerings.
Financial & Budget Management:
Work within the hub’s budget to offer affordable events for the community ensuring all events are inclusive.
Monitor financial performance (where necessary) and prepare financial reports, and ensure targets and commitments are met.
Identify opportunities to generate additional revenue streams and secure funding or sponsorship deals.
Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with organizational policies.
Safeguarding, Health & Safety, and Compliance:
Ensure all activities and operations comply with safeguarding policies, health and safety regulations, and organisational standards.
Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits.
Lead safeguarding training initiatives for staff and volunteers.
Promote a culture of safety, inclusion, and respect.
Strategic Planning & Development:
Contribute to the development and implementation of the hub’s strategic plan.
Identify opportunities for service development, retail expansion, and innovative community programs.
Stay informed of local community needs, trends, and funding opportunities.
Lead initiatives to enhance the sustainability and impact of the hub.
Reporting & Administration:
Prepare comprehensive reports on operational performance, financial health, and community engagement activities.
Maintain accurate records of activities, attendance, financial transactions, and compliance documentation.
Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience managing retail operations, ideally within a community or social enterprise setting.
Strong background in event planning, marketing, and promotional activities.
Demonstrable leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate diverse teams.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Financial acumen, including budgeting, financial reporting, and revenue generation.
Knowledge of safeguarding policies, health and safety regulations, and best practices (preferred).
Experience working within or with local communities, charities, or public sector organisations is advantageous.
Creative problem-solving abilities and the capacity to adapt to changing priorities.
Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and basic graphic design is desirable.

Innovative thinker with a proactive approach to service and retail development.
Resilient, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Commitment to safeguarding and creating a safe environment for all visitors and staff.

Working Conditions:
The role involves working 20 hours per week, including an alternating Saturday.
Additional hours may be required for weekend events, which may necessitate working outside regular hours.
