Position: Senior Funeral Director
Location: George S Munn Funeral Directors, Rutherglen
Job Type: Full-time, permanent - 38.33 Hours per week
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum plus relocation package, details discussed during interview
Why This Role Matters
As a Senior Funeral Director you will lead team performance and operational leadership, supporting the Cluster Manager to achieve business objectives while fostering a culture of empathy, professionalism and continuous improvement.
Your Impact and Responsibilities
* Deliver complex funeral arrangements with professionalism, ensuring respectful and client‑focused services
* Oversee branch standards and ensure timely, high‑quality care of the deceased
* Participate in an out‑of‑hours on‑call rota, providing support for families including dignified collection and transfer of the deceased into care
* Lead recruitment, onboarding and performance reviews, conducting regular one‑to‑one sessions
* Coordinate back‑of‑house duties to ensure seamless scheduling and service delivery
* Support the Cluster Manager in overseeing branch performance, audits and compliance processes
* Identify service gaps and recommend process and training improvements
* Maintain funeral plan banks and ensure all team members are Funeral Plan Consultant trained
Skills and Knowledge
* Experience leading and motivating a team with high standards of professionalism and presentation
* Empathetic, client‑oriented and dedicated to excellent outcomes for families
* Prepared to assist families continuously, ensuring operational effectiveness and compassion
* Able to follow strict procedures, maintain accurate records and comply with legal and company regulations
* Independent, results‑driven and confident in decision‑making
* Flexible to work evenings, weekends and on‑call
* Understanding of operational efficiency, services and financial considerations
