Role Overview
Act as an expert practitioner selecting, assessing, planning, and delivering evidence‑based nutrition and dietetic care to patients within a specialist Upper GI field. Serve as a source of expertise for patients, other health‑care professionals, GPs and consultants.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement nutrition care plans for Upper GI patients.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated care.
* Provide expert advice and support to colleagues on Upper GI nutrition pathways.
* Maintain and update specialist knowledge through continuous professional development.
* Document and audit patient outcomes to ensure best practice standards are met.
Essential Qualifications
* Registered Dietitian with valid HCPC registration.
* Degree level qualification in dietetics or a related field.
* Postgraduate expertise within a nutritional specialty, demonstrating breadth and depth of knowledge required to lead safe, effective patient care.
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the specialty.
* Strong leadership skills to manage day‑to‑day service delivery.
* Evidence of continuous professional development in the specialty (e.g., study days, courses, postgraduate qualifications).
* Excellent teamwork, motivation and communication skills.
* Effective time‑management and basic information‑technology skills.
* Full, valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence with a car licence.
Desirable Attributes
* Membership of PENG or willingness to undertake attendance at a PENG course.
* Experience managing Upper GI and pancreatitis patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
* Familiarity with enteral feeding, nutritional support and ONS best‑practice policies.
* Project‑management skills (strategic planning, data collection, business‑plan writing).
* Experience working within a multidisciplinary team and guiding/hiring health‑care support workers.
* Active involvement in student training and professional development.
Contract Details
Fixed‑term or secondment for 12 months – full time, 37 hours per week.
Location
The role will be based in Dietetics within University Hospital Wishaw, with a working pattern to be confirmed.
