Transport Contract Manager | Lancaster & Morecambe | Full Time | Integrated Transport Services Team
Salary £31,067 - £35,235 per annum • Full Time • 37 hours per week • Integrated Transport Services Team • Based in the Lancaster/Morecambe area (Middleton Waste Transfer Station, Imperial Road, Morecambe LA3 3RW).

Responsibilities
* Work within the Integrated Transport Services Team based in the Lancaster/Morecambe areas of the County, based at Middleton Waste Transfer Station, Imperial Road, Morecambe LA3 3RW; oversee Home to School (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) and Adult Day Care transport services.
* Plan and resource journeys internally using our own fleet of minibuses and externally with approved Private Hire and Taxi suppliers.
* Manage a large number of contracts, monitor performance, review efficiency and cost effectiveness, and ensure compliance.
* Build strong network relationships with other departments within the authority and with Schools and Daytime Support Centres in your allocated area and in support of colleagues.
* Manage a team of Passenger Assistants including recruitment and induction, work allocation, Performance and Development Appraisals, Training Plans, monitoring working time and approving pay records; manage absence and low-level disciplinary issues.
* Support vulnerable service users by ensuring transport arrangements enable children with SEND or adults accessing day services to reach their destinations.
Knowledge, experience and qualifications
* Enthusiasm, initiative, knowledge and experience of staff and contract management; ability to manage and prioritise a varied and large workload.
* Excellent communication, organisational and people skills (friendly, considerate, patient, empathy).
* Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and the ability to learn new specialist software while maintaining high levels of customer service.
* Ability to lead, supervise and organise a team; awareness and empathy of the needs of people with SEND and their families.
* Mid-Senior level experience; ability to work independently and as part of a wider team; build effective working relationships with other service areas and colleagues.

* Knowledge of transport procurement and contract management in a public sector setting is preferred.
