We have an exciting opportunity for a Children, Young People and Families Counsellor to join TOG Minds Youth in Mind Directorate on a part-time basis, reporting to the Children, Young People and FamiliesCounselling Project Manager.

As a CYPF Counsellor you will be responsible for delivering Person Centred Counselling and emotional wellbeing support to children and young people aged 8-18 within schools and local community settings in Oldham and Tameside.

In your role, you will be pivotal in strengthening relationships with VCFSE organisations, schools, statutory services to embed a Whole School and College Approach increasing access to therapeutic support for children young people and families.

You will provide 1:1 Person Centred Counselling support to children and young people aged 8-18, support and guidance to schools Mental Health Leads, therapeutic workshops and information sessions, and navigation of the local mental health system. You will work within a trauma informed, person centred approach, ensuring the child or young person’s needs are always at the centre of decision making.

What you will bring to TOG Mind:

To be considered for this role, we are looking for experienced candidates that have knowledge, lived experience and qualifications that inform person-centred counselling, to support the mental health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families.

You will be passionate, enthusiastic, hold a minimum level 4 diploma in Person Centred Counselling, and be a member of a therapeutic professional body such as the BACP. You will have experience in liaising with other professionals and committed to providing positive outcomes and achieving organisational goals.

You will have experience managing a caseload of children and young people and be able to adapt your approach to meet the needs of young people when needed, while also providing support to parent/carers and schools. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to build trusting relationships, foster collaboration and communicate empathically with families.
