Salary : £45,000 – £52,500 + bonus + benefits

We are supporting a major consultancy on a high-priority programme, seeking up to three Wintel Engineers to join their infrastructure team based in Stevenage. This is a key technical support role, offering a blend of hands-on system administration, user support, and occasional project work.
The role is fully on-site to begin with, due to the sensitive nature of the work. However, hybrid flexibility may be introduced depending on project phases.

What you’ll be doing:
As a Wintel Engineer, you'll be responsible for providing advanced support across a large Windows-based environment, supporting both physical and virtual infrastructure. You’ll work alongside a collaborative team of 7 engineers, with four in Stevenage and others in Bristol and Bolton.
Key responsibilities include:
Support and administration of Windows Server environments
Management of Windows OS (primarily Windows 10/11)
Maintenance and troubleshooting of Active Directory
Working with VMware for virtualisation tasks
Performing physical server builds, racking, and maintenance
Responding to incidents and fulfilling service requests
Contributing to ongoing service improvement and occasional project deployments
Collaborating with wider teams and maintaining relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Your background:
We’re looking for candidates with strong hands-on experience in enterprise IT support and Windows infrastructure.
Essential:
Windows Server support & administration
Desktop support for Windows 10/11
Active Directory administration
VMware support
Backup tools (tool agnostic)
Previous experience working on a service desk using tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, Freshdesk etc
Experience with physical server builds (racking and cabling)
Desirable:
Linux OS support/admin
Scripting (PowerShell, Python, CLI)
Networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, Cisco)
Familiarity with tools like Exchange, SQL Server, Skype for Business
Security Clearance
Active SC clearance is preferred; however, candidates eligible for SC and willing to progress to Developed Vetting (DV) will be considered. SC clearance is currently taking approximately 5–7 weeks to complete.
