Balfour Beatty has been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first‑of‑a‑kind fully integrated gas‑fired power station with carbon capture and storage, a key driver behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Section Engineer to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Carry out complex setting out;
* Provision of ‘primary’ setting out control and recognise the optimum location for installation;
* Carry out calibration checks on equipment;
* Produce Activity Control Plans;
* Actively use the Specification as a reference document;
* Maintain a comprehensive filing system of quality records;
* Identify, raise and act on Non‑Conformance Reports;
* Produce Method Statements and Risk Assessments;
* Prepare and raise Temporary Works Briefs;
* Understand and use the Observation tool for both areas of improvement and areas of excellence;
* Assist in the production of a weekly programme and measure progress against KPI’s;
* Communicate weekly programme and targets to the workforce;
* Create and maintain a daily diary for upload to BIM 360;
* Collate weekly measure information and monitor wastage against budget allowances/KPI’s;
* Carry out a labour and plant reconciliation;
* Identify items of additional work and raise the necessary notifications;
* Work to specific terms, conditions and outputs of relevant subcontractors and suppliers.
Who We’re Looking For
* HND in civil engineering (minimum). Degree is preferred or proven experience as a civil engineer;
* CSCS card;
* SMSTS is preferred; SSSTS at minimum;
* CITB Temporary Works Supervisor is preferable;
* Prepare and review RAMS, ITP’s and other technical documentation;
* Extensive, proven experience as a section or site engineer on large, complex packages of work, specifically within major civil engineering and highways infrastructure projects (e.g., major road construction, earthworks, heavy civils);
* Strong knowledge of engineering computer systems e.g. AutoCAD, BIM;
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft suite;
* Good knowledge of programming and planning civil works;
* Good working knowledge of site engineering tools e.g. total stations;
* Excellent communication skills for effective interface with site teams, subcontractors, clients, and designers;
* Experience managing sections of works and multiple site engineers.
