As Finance Business Partner, your responsibilities will include preparing and overseeing monthly close processes, analyzing product and manufacturing costs, managing budgeting and forecasting, leading audits, and ensuring compliance with all financial and tax reporting requirements. You’ll be instrumental in monitoring gross margins, maintaining inventory accuracy, creating pricing models, and supporting business development with financial insights. This role also includes oversight of two team members who manage customer service and accounting functions.
More About Your Responsibilities
* Month-End & Reporting: Lead the monthly and year-end close process, deliver financial reports within defined deadlines, perform variance analysis, and support external audit preparation.
* Budgeting & Forecasting: Drive the preparation of the annual budget and monthly forecasts, helping leadership make informed, forward-looking decisions.
* Cost & Margin Analysis: Monitor product margins, track and analyze manufacturing costs against standards, and generate monthly sales margin reports to support strategic pricing.
* Inventory Management: Lead monthly physical inventory counts, ensure inventory accuracy in systems, and produce detailed inventory analysis and monitoring reports.
* BOM & Machine Costing: Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOM) and machine cost centre data, and support costing updates based on historical data or new equipment.
* Quoting & Pricing Support: Prepare cost/pricing sheets for new business opportunities, supporting business development with accurate and timely financial inputs.
* Cash & Working Capital: Manage daily bank reconciliations, complete daily sales reports, monitor work-in-process and inventory levels, and liaise with banks for borrowing activities.
* Compliance & Tax Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate tax remittances, including sales tax, income tax, employer health tax, and the preparation of quarterly Plastic Tax submissions.
* Team Oversight & Backup: Oversee two team members who manage accounting and customer service functions and provide coverage support during leaves.
* Asset Management & Ad Hoc Duties: Safeguard corporate assets, maintain financial records, and carry out any other duties assigned by the Director of Finance or Managing Director.
If You’ve Got

* 5+ years of experience in accounting, ideally within a manufacturing environment
* Strong Excel skills and working knowledge of financial modelling
* Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, JD Edwards, or Visual
* Education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related subject, or equivalent experience.
* Considered as an asset:
o Enrolment in, or near completion of, a recognized professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
o Advanced proficiency in Sage200, including manufacturing module experience
o Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools like Power BI or Tableau
o Exposure to budgeting and forecasting software such as Vena Solutions
