Your Role
and What You'll Be Doing
At Irwin Mitchell, we’re proud of our supportive, collaborative culture and our commitment to developing talented people. We’re now looking for an Assistant Financial Accountant to join our Group Finance team — a fantastic opportunity for someone part-qualified, AAT qualified, or ready to start their ACCA, with full study support provided.
This role is ideal if you’re early in your accounting career and want hands-on exposure to financial accounting in a large, regulated organisation, alongside structured development and the support of an experienced finance team.
Your role
Working closely with our Group Accounting and Financial Control teams, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong financial controls across the Group. You’ll gain exposure to month-end and year-end processes, IFRS accounting, audit support and continuous improvement projects, while developing the technical and commercial skills needed for a long-term career in finance.
What you’ll be doing
1. Supporting month-end accounting processes under IFRS
2. Assisting with provisions, leases and expected credit loss calculations
3. Supporting IFRS 15 accrued income processes
4. Helping prepare statutory year-end financial statements
5. Supporting audits and liaising with stakeholders
6. Contributing to continuous improvement projects
