Summary
The Department of Health and Fitness Studies at Regis College is seeking an Adjunct Lecturer for the Fall 2025 semester to teach THR 203 – Leadership Development in Adaptive Sport. The purpose of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to adapt sport and recreation activities to allow individuals with disabilities to actively participate for fun, skill development, competition, and/or improvement of personal well-being. Students in this class may be Therapeutic Recreation majors, Athletic Coaching minors, or other students interested in adapted sport programming. During the course, students will observe/participate in various adapted physical activities. Students will gain an understanding of various conditions that impact motor skill performance, sport participation, recreation, and overall health and well-being of individuals with disabilities.
It is a 15-week course that begins on September 2 nd and runs through the fall semester. The course is taught IN PERSON on the Weston campus. The course outline and textbook are available for the instructor, as well as previous Moodle course materials.
Responsibilities
* Teach THR 203 Leadership Development in Adaptive Sport (lecture) as an in-person course
* Engage with all responsibilities associated with teaching: content preparation, grading, office hours, student engagement, academic assessment, etc.
* Meet with Interim Dean periodically to discuss content, student progress, challenges, etc.
Qualifications
Qualified Candidates Must Possess
* A Master’s degree or higher in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreation Therapy, Adaptive Physical Education, Physical Education or a related field
* Past experience and expertise leading and implementing adaptive sports and inclusive programs for individuals with disabilities
* Evidence of prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level preferred
* Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom learning environment in keeping with the University's commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.
* Ability to collaborate with other faculty
* Ability to utilize technology necessary for teaching including but not limited to: Office 365, Moodle, library and other online resources
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
* Ability to perform all duties necessary for classroom instruction
* Ability to provide experiential learning opportunities for students to learn and engage in various adaptive sports.
* Ability to utilize technology necessary for teaching, grading and communication with students.
