Overview
A nursery in Henley on Thames is looking for a Preschool Room Leader to join their team. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Shifts are between 07:30am and 6pm. Salary: from £25k, with room to negotiate based on experience/knowledge. A joining bonus of £2,500 is offered for full-time positions (subject to a successful 6 month probation).
Responsibilities
* Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care, promoting security and satisfaction among parents and aiming to avoid preventable accidents.
* Cater to the all-round daily needs of the children to enhance physical, intellectual, social and emotional development.
* Supervise all staff within your room to ensure high standards are consistently achieved.
* Contribute effectively to the team and maintain a high level of communication throughout the nursery.
Main Tasks
* Team Contribution
o Work as an effective part of the Nursery team, maintaining good morale and a high reputation in and outside the Nursery, ensuring Countryside Nursery standards are met.
o Have a high level of awareness of company policies and procedures and ensure these are carried out daily by you and your staff.
o Train and support new staff using the Countryside Staff Training Programme.
o Encourage all staff in their daily activities and development by leading by example.
* Child and Parent Care
o Ensure parents have full satisfaction through appropriate information and feedback from all nursery staff.
o Ensure staff communicate at an appropriate level with children during play and meal times.
o Be the first point of contact for new children and parents; support settling-in sessions to help children and parents feel comfortable and safe, and keep parents informed of progress.
o Maintain high personal hygiene standards and encourage hygiene with children.
o Keep children tidy, happy and ready for their parents at the end of sessions.
o Provide daily updates to parents via diary sheets or verbal communication.
o Write an informative, monthly parental newsletter with input from the team reviewing the previous month and outlining future plans.
o Respect the confidentiality of personal information.
o Be open and welcoming to all parents and children and be ready to answer queries.
* Child and Parent Care
o Foster social and educational stimulation through curriculum planning based on age and development within a secure environment.
o Ensure weekly and monthly planning sheets are completed covering all areas of the curriculum.
o Ensure each Key Carer updates accurate developmental records for each child and makes them available for parental viewing.
o Maintain routines within each area of the Nursery.
o Ensure room registers and daily sign-in sheets are accurately completed by you and your staff.
o Maintain an organised filing system for easy access to information.
o Regularly update: Key Carer List, Emergency Contact File, Children's allergies and dietary requirements, Staff rotas.
o Prepare consent forms, Key Carer forms and labels prior to children starting at the Nursery.
* Nursery Communication
o Attend and actively participate in regular room and staff meetings.
o Maintain a good level of communication with senior management and room staff on everyday occurrences.
o Ensure all staff follow company procedures for daily communications to and from parents.
o Report maintenance requirements to the manager for immediate attention.
o Treat all matters concerning the children, parents, staff and business as confidential.
* Health and Safety
o Implement all company health and safety procedures to safeguard children and staff.
o Be aware of risk assessments and act on recommendations to prevent accidents.
o Maintain high hygiene standards and record cleaning and sterilising activities.
o Ensure toys and equipment are stored safely and properly.
o Leave rooms clean and tidy at the end of each day.
o Notify the manager or deputy when toys/equipment need repairing or replacing.
o Take part in regular fire drills and ensure awareness of procedures.
o Record accidents in accident books and inform the manager, deputy and parents.
