Head of SEO | Strategic Leadership Role in a High-Growth Search Agency
We are working with a leading search marketing agency looking to appoint a Head of SEO to lead, scale, and evolve its core revenue-driving function.
This is a senior leadership role with full ownership of SEO across a diverse client base, spanning high street brands, enterprise organisations, and international businesses.
Salary: £70-75k
Location: Hybrid or Remote (Hertford)
The Opportunity
SEO sits at the centre of the agency’s proposition, fully integrated with Paid Media and Digital PR as part of a Connected Search model.
You will define what best-in-class SEO looks like, leading both strategy and execution while ensuring all activity is aligned to meaningful commercial outcomes.
This role sits on the leadership team and will play a key part in shaping the agency’s future direction.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Leading senior client relationships with a clear commercial focus
* Acting as the strategic SEO lead across key enterprise and high-growth accounts
* Defining and evolving SEO strategies aligned to wider business objectives
* Translating complex SEO into clear, actionable recommendations
* Collaborating closely with Paid Media and Digital PR teams to deliver integrated campaigns
* Ensuring KPIs are aligned to revenue, leads, and commercial performance
* Overseeing delivery quality, performance, and account health across the SEO function
* Building scalable frameworks across technical SEO, content, and authority building
* Leading complex projects including site migrations, international SEO, and large-scale optimisation
* Supporting new business through pitches, proposals, and strategic input
* Identifying growth opportunities across existing client accounts
* Managing team structure, resourcing, and workflow efficiency
* Hiring, mentoring, and developing a high-performing SEO team
* Contributing to thought leadership and market positioning
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience leading SEO strategy across multiple clients or brands
* Strong background working with enterprise or large-scale websites
* Excellent stakeholder management skills at senior level
* Strong commercial acumen with a clear understanding of how SEO drives growth
* Deep expertise across technical SEO, content strategy, and authority building
* Experience managing and developing teams in an agency environment
* Ability to simplify complex concepts into clear, compelling narratives
* Experience supporting or leading new business pitches
* Operational strength with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
* Collaborative mindset with experience working across multiple marketing channels
