Aspris College South Wales is an independent, specialist co-educational college for young adults aged 16-25 with Asperger's syndrome, autistic spectrum disorders, and related conditions, based in Cwmbran. The college was established in partnership with Coleg Gwent to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students.
Main duties (see JD for full list):
* Line management of learning support workers on a daily basis
* Coordinate ILS with the Curriculum Lead to ensure learner-centered support
* Manage training requirements for support staff and ensure completion of Learning Lounge activities
* Manage and audit live files, delegating support staff responsibilities to keep them current
* Act as a communication liaison between learners, support workers, and therapy team members, and assist in SULP sessions
* Participate in the interview process for new support staff
* Conduct staff supervisions every six weeks and complete annual PDRs for support staff
* Deliver in-house training such as role of an LSW, paperwork, ILS, and ILP, plus additional training as required
* Visit and collaborate with other sites and staff to maximize college efficiency, including covering absences
* Delegate duties during shifts, such as vehicle checks and learner support activities
* Ensure learners receive appropriate support, maintaining staff-learner ratios for activities and outings
* Follow guidelines for learners going out unsupported and ensure risk assessments and trip planning are completed
