Technical Administrator (BOMs and design change)
Location: Gateshead, Tyne and Wear
Salary: £35,000 per year
Hours: Full-time, permanent – Monday to Friday (on-site)
We’re looking for a detail-driven Engineering Technical Administrator for a leading manufacturing company in the area.
This is a permanent, full-time role supporting our engineering and production teams with critical technical administration, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), routing data, and ERP maintenance.
If you have experience working with MRP/ERP systems in a manufacturing environment and a solid understanding of production processes, this could be a great fit—especially for someone who thrives on accuracy, organisation, and process improvement.
About the Role
In this position, you’ll take ownership of creating and maintaining BOMs and job routings within the MRP system. You'll work closely with design, engineering, and production to ensure all technical data is accurate and up to date.
Your work will directly support efficient production planning, job card creation, and overall manufacturing performance.
What You’ll Be Doing
· Setting up and updating BOMs and routing structures within the ERP system
· Managing route codes, revision control, and release data
· Validating BOMs prior to import and monitoring for any inaccuracies
· Supporting engineering change requests by updating records and routings as required
· Interpreting technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate ERP data
· Maintaining clear documentation for audits and internal/external compliance
· Assisting with process improvements around ERP and data workflows
· Collaborating with production and engineering to ensure accurate job configurations
What We’re Looking For
Must have:
· Experience working with ERP systems, particularly BOM and routing modules
· Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows
· Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with technical data
· Confident using Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Nice to have:
· Experience in automotive manufacturing or volume manufacturing environments
· Familiarity with Engineering Change Control (ECC) procedures
· Understanding of ISO or other quality standards
