Purpose of the Role
The successful and safe delivery of the programmed work / transit shift of Rail Grinders, Rail Milling and Tampers. Being competent to drive both types of C21 & C44 Rail Grinders and Rail Milling Machine. In addition, you would also be trained to drive other types of OTM plant
Key Responsibilities
7. Driving and route conducting the machines safely and effectively
8. Reporting any machine defects to Grinding Supervisor and/or Maintenance Supervisor, where appropriate.
9. To work safely and effectively to Colas Rail Services Operations procedures.
10. Assist as required
11. To prepare and carryout safety inspections on plant before train enters service
12. Assist in maintaining quality systems, and stabling database by continually monitoring, reviewing, and making recommendations for updating as required
13. Required undertake route learning / refreshing as and when required. Must maintain and work towards expanding route knowledge base.
14. Will be required to drive all other OTM’s such as Rail Milling Machine and Tampers
15. Required to keep all routes current via the Colas Rail route app
16. Report any issues in real time to Colas control
17. Compile detailed reports/statements to any incidents or accidents immediately
18. Must be flexible due to the nature of the operations
19. As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.
20. Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.

• Work to applicable Safety Plans and Method Statements.
• Comply with Section 7 of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
• Close Calls and safety conversations submitted as per procedure
