Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Reports To: SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) / Classroom Teacher
Location: Woking
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant in Woking to support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The role involves working closely with teachers and professionals to provide tailored support, enabling SEN students to access the curriculum and succeed socially and academically.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one or small group support to SEN students to facilitate participation in classroom activities.
2. Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management plans.
3. Support communication, social, and emotional development of SEN students.
4. Help adapt learning materials and resources to meet individual needs.
5. Monitor and report on student progress and challenges, providing feedback to teachers and SENCO.
6. Support students during personal care and physical needs, when necessary.
7. Promote independence and confidence among SEN students.
8. Assist in preparing classroom environments and resources.
9. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to deliver consistent support.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Experience working with children with SEND is essential.
* Knowledge of various SEN conditions and teaching strategies.
* Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
* Ability to follow detailed plans and adapt support to individual needs.
* Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (e.g., Level 2/3 SEN diploma) are desirable.
