Overview
Registered Veterinary Nurse - Clinical Floor Coordinator - Part Time at Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists in Ringwood, Hampshire. This is a permanent, part time position.
We are seeking a highly organised and logistically minded RVN to join our team as a Clinical Floor Coordinator. This role supports the effective and efficient running of the clinical floor across referral disciplines, including Anaesthesia, Cardiology, Dermatology, Diagnostic Imaging, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Ophthalmology and Orthopaedics & Soft Tissue Surgery.
Reporting to the Clinical Nursing Manager, the Clinical Floor Coordinator ensures the clinical floor runs effectively by planning the day’s referral procedures and leading teams to complete workflows as scheduled. The dynamic nature of referral and emergency work requires decisive action and reallocation of resources. The role does not require clinical work as standard, but a high level of clinical knowledge is expected.
Responsibilities
* Be responsible and accountable for the efficient throughput of cases across all departments, overseeing the day’s schedule and managing emergencies to prevent delays.
* Input planned procedures into the practice scheduling system and keep the schedule updated to reflect real-time workflow.
* Prioritise workload to meet patient needs and organise the clinical team's workload accordingly.
* Notify all relevant departments if the schedule changes.
* Liaise with the referrals administrative team to facilitate acceptance of emergency and urgent referrals.
* Manage the clinical schedule to reflect staffing levels and facility availability.
* Monitor and audit efficiency across the hospital in processing cases and implement changes to optimise efficiency.
Qualifications and attributes
* You must be a Registered Veterinary Nurse.
* Previous experience in a referral hospital environment.
* Some leadership experience is preferred.
* High level of clinical knowledge and practical competence.

Hours and location
This part‑time position averages 29.25 hours per week. The shift pattern is Wednesday to Friday plus 1 in 4 Saturdays, 08:00–17:30.
