Job Description
New Directions Education is currently recruiting a committed and compassionate Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Walton. This is a full-time position supporting a pupil on a 1:1 basis with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Due to the nature of the role, full-time availability is essential to ensure consistency, routine, and stability for the child.
The Role
You will provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and feel fully included within the classroom environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting the pupil’s academic, social, and emotional development
2. Implementing strategies outlined in the child’s EHCP (where applicable)
3. Working closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to adapt learning materials
4. Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
5. Encouraging independence while providing appropriate levels of support
6. Monitoring progress and providing regular feedback to staff

The Ideal Candidate
11. Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – essential
12. Previous experience supporting children with SEND
13. Patient, nurturing, and resilient approach
14. Strong communication skills and ability to build trusting relationships
15. Able to commit to a full-time, long-term role
Requirements
16. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
17. Employment references covering the last 5 years
