SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Croydon, CR0 - Mainstream Primary School
Start Date: 22nd April 2025, Term time only
Payscale: £100-£115 per day
Long Term Futures is working in partnership with a mainstream primary school in Croydon (CR0) to appoint an experienced and confident SEN Teaching Assistant to join the school's dedicated inclusion team. Although the role is based within a mainstream setting, your focus will be on delivering high-quality support to students with Autism (ASD), speech and language delays, SEMH needs, and dysregulated behaviour through a mix of 1:1 and small group interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide individualised 1:1 support to pupils with a range of SEND profiles
2. Run small group interventions for children with learning or communication difficulties
3. Use visual aids, emotional regulation strategies, and communication tools to meet pupil needs
4. Assist in implementing EHCP targets and behaviour support plans
5. Promote a calm, nurturing learning environment using de-escalation techniques when needed
6. Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCo and external professionals to ensure consistent support
Criteria:
1. Proven experience working with children with SEN - including ASD, SEMH, speech delays, and behaviour difficulties
2. Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification, or experience in a special school or SEN environment (desirable)
3. Confidence in managing and responding to challenging behaviour in a calm and professional way
4. Understanding of inclusive education, safeguarding practices, and the importance of early intervention
