Job Title: Lead Electrical Design & Control Systems Engineer Location: Oxfordshire – 2 days on-site, 3 days remote Industry: Industrial Automation Type: Full-Time, Permanent A fast-growing, sustainability-focused technology company is looking for a Lead Electrical Design & Control Systems Engineer to take ownership of the electrical and control systems across their range of innovative, in-house developed systems. The Role You’ll lead the design, development, and delivery of electrical and control systems used in complex electro-mechanical products that serve industrial customers across the UK and Europe. The systems are programmed using Schneider-based PLCs, and you’ll play a key role in both supporting live deployments and driving future design innovation. Key Responsibilities * Act as technical lead for electrical design and control systems development * Design hardware for automated systems including cabinet layouts, safety, compliance calculations, and 2D drawings * Develop and maintain PLC code and associated control systems (CODESYS, Ladder, FBD, ST) * Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate control logic into system builds * Troubleshoot and resolve on-site system issues as needed (UK and Europe travel required occasionally) * Work with suppliers, contractors, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions * Ensure adherence to relevant safety regulations and compliance standards * Produce and maintain technical documentation, risk assessments, and validation plans Your Profile * Degree, HND or apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline * Strong experience in electrical hardware design for industrial machinery (Control panel and cabinet build) * Proficient in PLC programming, specifically using CODESYS and Schneider Machine Expert * Familiar with EU/UK machinery safety and electrical equipment regulations * Excellent communicator with a hands-on, collaborative approach * Able to interpret P&IDs and produce clear documentation and reports * 2D Electrical Design experience - ideally Solidworks What’s On Offer * Competitive base salary * Annual performance-based bonus * Equity/Growth share options (post-qualifying period) * Matched pension contributions (up to 5%) * 25 days holiday * Flexible hybrid working environment * Excellent professional development opportunities in a mission-driven team This is a unique opportunity to join an agile, purpose-led engineering team working on real-world sustainability challenges through hardware innovation
