Join to apply for the Clerk of Works - Retrofit role at James Andrews Recruitment Solutions Ltd.
We are currently partnering with a local council based in Hampshire, who are recruiting for a Clerk of Works to join their growing team on a 6-month temporary basis.
This is a full-time position with a rate of pay negotiable (subject to experience) and they want someone to start this position immediately.
Responsibilities
* Supervise building contractors appointed by the Council for the Decarbonisation Retrofit Programme, ensuring high standards of workmanship, adherence to best practices, and full compliance with safety requirements
* Maintain close liaison with contractors and contract administrators to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of works
* Attend site meetings regularly to monitor progress, address issues, and contribute to effective project coordination
* Maintain detailed site records, including work progress, workforce levels, health and safety matters, and overall site conditions
* Stay up to date with developments in the construction industry, particularly in relation to new materials, technologies, and working methods relevant to PAS 2030 and PAS 2035 standards
* Remain informed on all legislative, legal, and technical requirements related to the effective delivery of the retrofit programme
* Encourage and engage in cross-team collaboration, including inter-divisional and inter-departmental communication, as well as liaising with external stakeholders where necessary
* Ensure all works and systems comply with statutory regulations, industry codes of practice, and the Council's Constitution
* Work closely with the Compliance Officer to ensure all health and safety risks are properly assessed, coordinated, and effectively managed on site
Experience required
* Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
* Working as part of a team
* Computer literate, (experience of using Orchard computer system)
* Supervision of contractors
* Liaison with tenants, contractors, leaseholders and private owners regarding works
Skills, knowledge and expertise required
* Supervision of Contractors
* Able to meet the travel requirements of the post (70% site based and 30% office based)
* Assisting the Project Manager with validating Contractors\' valuations
* Ensuring Health and Safety standards and procedures are followed
* Able to work with minimum supervision
* Surveying of buildings and specifying remedial works
* Good all round communication skills at all levels
