Senior Stress Engineer - Marine (Shock) at Expleo Group
We are seeking a Senior Stress Engineer to contribute to concept surface & sub-surface vessel design, complex engineering design & analysis tasks, and the development of new tools and processes, delivering engineering consultancy services and decarbonisation solutions across global maritime programmes. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement to balance business needs with personal life.
Responsibilities
* Apply and continue to develop a breadth of engineering skills across related disciplines.
* Define and conduct engineering analyses, stress analysis, FEA, technical studies, and R&D projects to deliver high-quality solutions.
* Provide mentoring, guidance, and leadership to enable engineers to grow technically and behaviorally.
* Investigate and solve complex technical problems in concept, basic, and detailed design phases.
* Develop and maintain written technical and administrative procedures, standards, processes, practices, guidelines, and standards.
* Assist with maintaining and improving quality standards of engineering, design, and production information.
* Interface directly with customers/clients to discuss engineering solutions to complex problems.
Qualifications
* Degree in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ship Science, Marine Technology, Marine Engineering) or equivalent naval/commercial ship design experience.
* Professional member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., RINA, IMarEST, IMechE, IET).
* Recognised as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer by the UK Engineering Council (or ability to achieve within 12 months).
Essential Skills
* Experience in one or more of the following areas:
o Marine structure design & analysis
o Structures Design (Composite; Metallic)
o Static Stress Analysis (Composite; Metallic)
o Fatigue & Damage Tolerance (F&DT)
o Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 4 years post-graduate experience (8 years for non-degree qualified) in either the commercial or naval maritime domain, with experience in multi-company and engineering discipline teams and the ability to communicate effectively. Experience in a technical consulting environment, leading and/or supporting multiple engineering projects and customers is desirable.

* Primary work locations: Bristol, Derby, or Preston, with occasional travel to client sites as required.
* Role will be based in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology, and/or services.
