Overview
Swansea Council's Education Directorate are looking for a new Learner Engagement Team Manager.
This is a critical role in delivering high-quality, inclusive, learner-centred support for children in Swansea, ensuring statutory duties are met and inclusive practices are embedded across schools and settings.
Role and Leadership
As a key manager in the Vulnerable Learners Service, you will also be part of the Education Directorate Senior Leadership Team, contributing towards the strategic development of the Directorate and taking a lead role in implementing key strategies.
Responsibilities
* Lead on ensuring the Vulnerable Learners Service Inclusion Strategy is implemented alongside ensuring the Local Authority meets its statutory obligation in relation to School Admissions, Attendance and Education Welfare, education for Children Looked After, Education Safeguarding and Child Protection (including at regional Safeguarding Board) and duties in relation to school exclusions.
* Focus on prevention and early interventions strategies and activities in relation to vulnerable learners which is a core responsibility in promoting inclusion.
* Work closely with the Additional Learning Needs and Inclusion Team and with the Pupil Referral Unit and Education Other than at School Services (EOTAS).
* Help deliver Swansea Council's Inclusion Strategy to ensure the promotion of education opportunities for vulnerable learners in Swansea.
Person specification / Qualifications
* 58,400-61,271 (pay award pending and access to 3 additional SPA points).
* Experienced, compassionate and learner centred manager. Applicants should have extensive experience of working with schools, families, local authority services such as Child and Family Services alongside third sector organisations and multi agency partners.
* We would welcome applications from qualified teachers or professionals with extensive experience in working with schools and families at a local authority or multi agency partner organisations.
* Strong communication skills, an understanding of education and schools and a commitment to equity and inclusion are essential.
