Overview
Clinical Psychologist role at Cheswold Park Hospital. This is a banded post (Band 8a with consideration for Band 7 preceptorship for newly qualified psychologists). Two roles available, each 2x 37.5 hours per week. Location: Ravensleigh Resource Centre, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.
Join a friendly, supportive, fully integrated Adult Community Mental Health Team. The service provides input to adults with complex and diverse mental health needs. The team develops trauma‑informed principles of care in conjunction with the Trauma Informed PD pathway and offers varied group programmes (including DBT and Structured Clinical Management). Psychological approaches used include Integrative, CAT, CBT, Compassion Focused, ACT, Psychoanalytic psychotherapy, MBT, EMDR and Family‑Systemic psychotherapy.
The role encompasses multi‑disciplinary working, service development, individual therapy, group work, supervision and consultation responsibilities, offering a diverse working experience.
Responsibilities
* Provide highly specialist psychological assessment and intervention for adults with moderate, severe and complex mental health problems within a multidisciplinary team.
* Offer consultation, supervision and training to other agencies involved in psychological, emotional and behavioural well‑being.
* Develop and deliver evidence‑based treatment plans, including individual therapy and group work; work autonomously within professional guidelines and the team framework.
* Utilise a range of psychological models and supervise/guide Psychology Assistants and Doctoral trainees as appropriate.
* Contribute to audit, service development and research activities; engage in CPD and clinical supervision.
* Ensure safeguarding practices in line with local policies and liaise with adult and child protection services as required.
* Collaborate with colleagues across the Trust and with external partners; support service development and clinical governance activities.
Band 8a / Band 7 Considerations
* Band 8a: Provide high‑level specialist clinical psychology services, supervise junior staff and trainees, and contribute to policy and service development.
* Band 7: Suitable for applicants with appropriate experience and supervision requirements; new applicants may be considered under a preceptorship pathway.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical Psychologist; Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology; UK safeguarding training; eligibility to supervise Doctoral Trainee Clinical Psychologists (for Band 8a); Band 7 or 8a experience as relevant to the role.
* Desirable: Experience in teaching, supervision, working with diverse client groups, and applying multiple theoretical approaches; ability to work across outpatient, community, primary care and inpatient settings.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to establish rapport and maintain empathetic therapeutic relationships; advanced psychometric assessment skills; ability to formulate complex clinical problems and develop appropriate intervention plans.
* Ability to travel within the Trust as required; IT literate; current driving licence where needed.
Other Information
* Salary: £47,810 to £62,682 per year (Band 8a, with Band 7 – 8a dependent on experience).
* Contract: Permanent; Working pattern: Full‑time, flexible where appropriate.
