West Yorkshire Police is seeking an experienced and motivated Occupational Health Nurse Advisor to join our People Directorate. This is a key clinical role supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of over 10,000 police officers and staff, helping to ensure a healthy, safe and productive workforce. Working within a bio psycho social model, you will provide professional, evidence based occupational health advice to managers and individuals, supporting attendance management, fitness for work decisions and proactive health promotion across the Force. This is an excellent opportunity for a registered nurse with occupational health expertise to influence organisational wellbeing, policy development and preventative health initiatives within a complex and dynamic policing environment. Role and Responsibilities You will contribute to the delivery of a high quality occupational health nursing service, including: • Providing specialist occupational health advice to managers to support safe, healthy and productive working practices • Undertaking workplace and individual assessments to determine fitness for general and specialist duties • Delivering nurse led clinics, including management referrals, health surveillance, vaccinations and phlebotomy • Supporting pre employment screening, transfers and return to work processes • Contributing to health awareness, risk management and wellbeing initiatives across the Force • Influencing the development of Force policies and protocols through specialist health expertise • Liaising with HR Operations, Occupational Physicians and external health partners as required • Maintaining accurate, confidential health records in line with professional and legal standards Expectations To succeed in this role, you will be expected to: • Work confidently and autonomously within professional nursing standards and NMC guidance • Apply health and safety legislation and occupational health best practice in a policing context • Communicate clearly and professionally with managers, officers, staff and partner organisations • Manage a varied caseload and prioritise effectively in a fast paced environment • Travel across West Yorkshire to undertake workplace visits and assessments • Work flexibly to meet service needs Essential Criteria • Registered General Nurse qualification • Formal qualification in Occupational Health Nursing, or currently in the final year of study, recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) • Strong IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office • Full UK/EU driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use Desirable: • Post qualification experience as an Occupational Health Nurse • Knowledge and experience of applying health and safety legislation Benefits/What We Offer West Yorkshire Police staff can access a wide range of benefits designed to support work-life balance, wellbeing, development and financial security.
