MCS Group are delighted to be working with a large public sector organisation based in county Antrim, in their search of adding a Waste Supervisor to the team. This role is shift pattern based. The Key Details: Antrim based, with travel across County Antrim. 6 month temporary contract, with a chance of extension. 37 hours a week. £20.02 per hour. Shift pattern is spread across the full week, so flexibility to work weekends is key. The Role: Provide professional support and guidance to the Waste Operations Manager across all service-related matters. Contribute to the development and delivery of strategic policies, performance plans, and risk management for Waste Operations. Supervise, develop, and support effective front line waste teams, ensuring high performance and compliance. Manage investigations into vehicle incidents and disciplinary issues, including employee interviews and report preparation. Oversee administration related to fleet management, including driver declarations, licence checks, and financial processing. Lead on health and safety processes, including risk assessments, toolbox talks, and maintaining compliance documentation. Support the coordination of waste collection, street cleansing, and winter operations services in collaboration with partners. Assist with staff recruitment, training needs analysis, and delivery of inductions and job-specific training. Monitor staff attendance, handle grievance and disciplinary issues, and carry out performance reviews. Deputise for the Waste Operations Manager when required and contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and service excellence. The Person: Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject (Environmental Management). A minimum of 2 years experience in waste operations including: Managing operational employees. Managing facilities and equipment. Carrying out investigations and disciplinary meetings. Negotiation with trade unions, staff, external partners and community representatives. Performance management skills. Full current drivers license or if a disability prevents driving, access to a suitable form of transport to enable the duties of the post to be carried out in full.
