Operations Manager (Conference and Events) – Newmarket and Huntingdon Racecourses is a full‑time, permanent role with a salary up to £33,000 plus benefits. We are looking for a passionate hospitality professional to manage the Conference and Events operation at Newmarket Racecourses and support Huntingdon Racecourse. The role plays a key part in delivering outstanding hospitality at renowned horse‑racing venues.


Responsibilities

* Manage the allocated casual team members to set up and break down meeting rooms and deliver live conference and events
* Review weekly payroll and assist in managing variable payroll to meet financial targets while supporting operational needs
* Act as a central point of contact for C&E operational queries
* Attend regular meetings and briefings to ensure communication with all stakeholders
* Develop strong working relationships with the hospitality team at Newmarket
* Use function sheets to gather customer expectations, room setup and menu requirements
* Collaborate with the chef team to ensure special diets and allergens are managed on event days
* Ensure all H&S policy and procedures are followed
* Support People Operations in recruitment, selection, induction and retention practices for the C&E department
* Lead team welfare and engagement activities for C&E
* Generate and cost new ‘look and feel’ ideas to uplift service styles


Qualifications

* Some experience of delivering live conferences, meetings and events
* A positive, approachable, and troubleshooter mindset
* Strong organisational, communication and computer skills
* Ability to communicate at all levels and meet deadlines
* Self‑starter, motivated by a passion for quality and great service delivery
