About your team:

At Centrica Business Solutions, we’re proud to partner with over 7,000 organisations globally – helping them to balance planet, with profit. We build, operate and maintain onsite, large-scale energy assets like Solar PV and Combined Heat and Power – to help businesses to save the planet and save money. We’re also transforming the UK’s energy landscape by partnering with landowners and developers to build a 900MW portfolio of new grid-scale solar farms and battery storage assets.

The Solutions Architect plays a critical role in designing, developing, and integrating innovative, commercially viable, and technically robust energy solutions for Centrica Business Solutions’ customers. The role supports the sales lifecycle by enabling the development of customer-centric energy propositions—spanning solar PV, CHP, battery storage, and low-carbon heat—that reduce cost, improve sustainability, and enhance operational resilience.

About the role:


You’ll be a pivotal part of a multidisciplinary team working across sales, engineering, delivery, and innovation. Here’s how you’ll make an impact:

1. Design technically and commercially robust systems including CHP, BESS, heat pumps, and solar PV
2. Conduct detailed technical and financial assessments to inform low-carbon solutions for I&C customers
3. Collaborate across teams to shape propositions that meet customer needs and business objectives
4. Produce technical specifications, feasibility studies, yield analysis and simulations
5. Support financial models (TCO, IRR, NPV, payback) to guide investment decisions
6. Translate complex technical concepts into customer-friendly commercial narratives
7. Provide governance through pre-sales and early delivery phases, ensuring solution integrity
8. Engage internal teams and external stakeholders with clarity, insight, and best practice
9. Stay at the cutting edge of low carbon, regulatory and market trends

Here’s what we’re looking for:

10. 5+ years in energy engineering, project development, or technical sales
11. Experience in CHP, solar PV, BESS, heat pump systems, and funded energy solutions
12. Strong commercial acumen with experience of PPAs, CPPAs, and ESCO models
13. Familiar with UK planning and regulatory processes (G98/G99, etc.)
14. Proficient in PVSol, Helioscope, AutoCAD, and CRM systems like Salesforce
15. A natural communicator, confident presenting to senior stakeholders
16. Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Energy Engineering (or equivalent experience)
17. Chartered Engineer (or working towards) desirable
