Student Support Officer
Grade 4, Scp 5-7, £18,710 - £19,309 actual salary
Working Hours: 31.5 hours per week, term time plus 5 training days. Monday 8:30‑3:30pm, Tuesday‑Friday 8:30‑3:15pm (30‑minute lunch break)
Kelvin Hall School is part of Thrive Co‑operative Learning Trust, responsible for 10 schools across Hull (3 secondary, 7 primary). The role starts immediately. The Student Support Officer will provide pastoral and learning support, working alongside Pastoral Year Leaders and implementing support strategies and restorative practice.
Responsibilities
* Provide pastoral and learning support and guidance to students.
* Assist Pastoral Year Leaders in implementing agreed support strategies and restorative practice.
* Implement support programmes to enable access to learning and assist in the management and care of pupils around the school.
* Supervise students before school and during break and lunch times.
* Work closely with parents/carers regarding student progress.
Qualifications
* Ability to establish productive working relationships with students, acting as a role model.
* Understanding of various learning barriers, particularly behaviour‑related issues.
* Empathy, strong listening and interpersonal skills.
* Encouraging and motivating approach to support students.
