Job Description

Job Title: Naval Radar Principal Systems Engineer

Location: Isle of Wight – Cowes

Salary: Up to £70,600 commensurate with skills and experience. Part time & accruing hours available

Put yourself into a dynamic Principal Systems Engineering role at the forefront of real-world demands in the defence industry. Alongside ensuring operational excellence for our existing products, there will be the opportunity to develop next-generation radar products to counter emerging threats and contribute to our strategy for new technology. Your day-to-day will be exciting and diverse as you apply the principles of Systems Engineering across the entire engineering development lifecycle, joining in developing radar systems used by those who serve and protect us.

What you’ll be doing:

* Develop novel solutions to evolving technical challenges and emerging issues for complex Radar Systems faced by our customers and end-user communities.
* Apply a broad range of knowledge, skills, and experience in Systems Engineering principles, techniques, and governance to steer and develop technical solutions and resolve engineering issues.
* Conduct system design analysis to manage trade-offs of system parameters, characterise, and specify robust product designs.
* Lead the decomposition of requirements to system and sub-system levels and manage these using approved toolsets such as IBM DOORS Next.
* Serve as a technical focal point with a holistic understanding of whole system solutions, leading analysis activities, system design decisions, and providing guidance to your team.
* Collaborate with specialists across disciplines including electronics, electrical, mechanical, and software engineering to direct and realize overarching system design solutions.
* Oversee system integration, test planning, and execution.
* Define and communicate system acceptance strategies and provide acceptance evidence demonstrating system performance across operational scenarios to stakeholders.
* Build your personal profile with senior stakeholders and expand your engineering knowledge base through these activities.

Your skills and experience:

Essential:

* A good understanding of some of the following areas: signal processing, target track extraction, object classification algorithms, system and sensor resource optimization.
* Knowledge of factors affecting real-world sensing system performance and their impact on measurement accuracy and timeliness to meet challenging design objectives.
* Understanding and experience of Systems Engineering, including standards such as ISO 15288.
* Experience in presenting technical and non-technical information in formal settings.

The Radar Systems Engineering team:

You will work as a Principal Systems Engineer within our close-knit, multidisciplinary radar team, evolving radar products to address emerging and future threats.
