Principle Responsibilities:
Planning, executing, monitoring, controlling the assigned projects or sub-set of a project. Supporting and leading project team members to achieve the specified outcomes on time and within budget. Direct line management of a small team of analytical scientists.
Subject Matter Expert for Analytical Department. Provides support to projects as required. Responsibilities will include:
* Applying subject expertise in evaluating business operations and processes.
* Identifying areas where technical solutions would improve business performance.
* Consulting across business operations, providing mentorship, and contributing specialized knowledge.
* Recommending technical solutions and determining product development requirements.
* Overseeing the development, testing, and implementation of technical solutions.
* Determining whether technical solutions meet defined requirements.
* Verifying technical reference information, including user guides, training manuals, and project/product requirements.
* Ensuring accurate representation of expertise prior to the distribution of technical solutions to end-users.
* Documenting processes and disseminating information to all relevant stakeholder, including Project Management, Product Management, Finance Team and Senior Management Team.
* Identifying novel inventions with the development group and support in the writing and filing of patent applications.
* In collaboration with Quality, develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures for external and internal use.
* Participate, where required in sales meetings with customers in a scientific capacity. Approve and release experimental samples and data to customers.
* You will support, train, and supervise other analytical scientists in the lab.
* You will analyse results and feedback to the product development teams with proposed improvements to the products.
Qualifications/Experience
* An advanced degree ideally PhD and/or MSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
* Significant experience within a commercial laboratory setting including working in a Senior Scientist role.
* You will have an in-depth knowledge of analytical techniques required for the characterisation of both small and large molecules. A solid knowledge of the analytical techniques required for the characterisation of larger modalities is essential i.e. cell and gene therapy targets and intermediates.
* Experience of conducting research in the relevant field and of planning and directing a research programme
* Ability to communicate clearly, convey ideas and concepts clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
* Growing reputation in the field of research demonstrated through publications and/or conference presentations.
It is highly desirable you will have an advanced knowledge of modern analytical techniques, especially those used for analysis of Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) targets (e.g. plasmid DNA, RNA, Viral Vectors (AAV, Lentivirus), Extracellular vesicles.
