Offer description

At our homelessness service, we don’t just provide shelter. We offer a fresh start. As a Support Worker, you’ll play a key part in helping people rebuild their lives, regain independence and feel like they belong again.

You’ll be part of a tight-knit, compassionate team who support residents with everything from accessing health services to filling in forms. You’ll help people set goals, overcome challenges and feel hopeful about the future, even on the tough days.

Whether it’s encouraging someone to attend a GP appointment, helping them cook a meal or simply sitting with them in a moment of crisis, your support can be life-changing.

What you’ll do:

1. Offer practical and emotional support tailored to each person’s needs
2. Help residents develop life skills and take positive steps forward
3. Assist with key working, personal support planning and regular reviews
4. Work closely with healthcare and community services
5. Support the day-to-day running of the unit including safety checks, calls and referrals
6. Be part of a rota covering days, evenings, weekends and occasional overnights

What you’ll need:

7. A calm, practical approach and the ability to build trust with others
8. Confidence working both independently and as part of a team
9. Basic IT skills and a willingness to learn
10. Ideally, experience in social care (but we can support you to grow into the role)
11. An SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or a willingness to work towards it

What you’ll get:

12. A supportive team environment where your contribution is truly valued
13. Ongoing training and development
14. The chance to be part of something genuinely meaningful

We even have access to a care concierge service to assist you with life's challenges, providing invaluable support when you need it most.

But we also know that your training and development is important to you, and as well as a contribution to your professional membership fees, we are keen to support you in making the right steps to learn, grow and develop in ways that are right for you.

CrossReach has been at the forefront of high quality social care for over 150 years, providing loving care to people of all ages and supporting them to live life to the full whatever their circumstances. During that time, we have worked hard to understand the needs of the people who turn to us for help and with them have been at the forefront of pioneering services which have literally changed thousands of lives for the better.

Today we are one of the largest social care providers in Scotland, with experience across a broad range of services. We have a legal obligation to ensure that we do not employ any worker who has not been granted the relevant permission to work in the UK. This permission is without exception granted by UK Visas and Immigrations. We are required to check the entitlement to work in the UK of all prospective employees, regardless of nationality or job category.

We are committed to ensuring that we attract, retain, and develop the very best people to build a diverse and talented team and we recognise that every individual’s unique background, experience and ability contributes to our success. We aim to create an inclusive and inspiring environment where individuals feel valued and respected and where people can belong, thrive and be their very best, whoever they are.
