Full Time Chef Job, Northumberland
A private residence in Northumberland is seeking an accomplished Private Chef to join their household on a full-time, live-out basis. This position offers a salary in the region of £60,000–£80,000 gross per annum, with an immediate start available.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional, quality meals for the Principals and their guests year-round. The role will also involve providing support to an additional chef based at the family’s second residence during particularly busy periods.
This opportunity requires a confident and adaptable chef with prior experience in private households. You will be expected to cater for both everyday family dining and more formal occasions, including entertaining distinguished guests.
Throughout the winter season, the household hosts a series of shooting parties and private events, typically over two-day stays. These occasions require a high standard of catering, including multi-course dinners with canapés, as well as breakfast, elevenses, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner service.
In addition, the family organises various events across the year, ranging from smaller afternoon teas for invited guests to larger seasonal celebrations involving extended family and visitors.
Outside of these periods, daily catering is more relaxed. Breakfast is generally light and self-service, lunch is freshly prepared, and dinner may be pre-cooked and left ready for the Principals to enjoy privately.
During the summer months, you will assist at the family’s second residence, where there may be additional guests, including children and staff. This period can include outdoor events, shooting days, and larger-scale gatherings such as afternoon tea service for numerous attendees.
There may also be occasional travel required to accompany the family to other residences for short stays.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to create refined, seasonal menus suited to both informal and formal dining. Excellent organisational skills are essential, particularly in menu development, sourcing ingredients, and managing stock. A high level of flexibility, discretion, and professionalism is essential, given the evolving nature of the household’s schedule.
